The New go 740 Live is a great device from a family of easy to use GPS's.
My only issue is related to buying a refurbished one here from Amazon. The site didn't indentify that the device would not come with the 3 months of free Live Service, nor did it mention that 'Latest maps' would not be included to allow for a subscription. |
Best GPS I have ever owned.

| I had been looking for a GPS to replace my previous unit which was stolen from my car. It was a Harman Kardin and it worked well but support was seriously lacking if you had an issue. As much as I liked it I was looking for something with more features and better backing from the company that made it. I wanted bluetooth and traffic updates. I have had other GPSs in the past and was using the GPS on my phone for the last year which was less than desirable with text messages, e-mails, and phone calls coming in all of the time. I decided on the TomTom 740 Live because it had all of the features I wanted and more. It was also one of the least expensive. I didn't say cheapest because I believe it has very sturdy construction and it is clear much thought has gone into not only the hardware design but the software and interface as well. I have had the unit for about 2 weeks now and couldn't be happier. Best GPS I have ever owned. |
Great Device at a Great Price

I have had this unit for about 10 days now and I really like it. There are a lot of reviews out there the Tom Tom Go 740 Live, so I will let you know the experience I had with this specific refurbished item.
When the item arrived I wouldn't have known the Tom Tom was refurbished except there was a card inside the box stating that it was a refurb and saying the warranty was for only 6 months instead of whatever it says in the manual. I immediately plugged it into the computer to get the updated maps and I got a free map update and activated the free 3 months of live service.
If you are considering buying the Tom Tom Go 740 Live I think this is a great price for the item and the one I got seems brand new, I would never have known it is a refurb. |
Happy with the Purchase.

Good: The screen is a good size and bright. The voice is more than adequate. The phone and phone book are very easy to setup and work wonderfully. Battery life is good. The Google search feature and its integration with the gps is fantastic (ex: we were driving from LA to SF on the 101 and saw our favorite coffee shop in Pismo Beach. By the time we go to the off the freeway we were way past the coffee shop and couldn't find it. We used the google search, found the location, and just hit "go to" and the device directed us straight there - very easy)
Bad: The touchscreen was a little difficult to get use to at first. Wish it was easier to move the map in different direction. The menus are a little confusing and take sometime to get used.

Much better than a comparably priced Garmin

| I've had the TomTom for a week and I'm very happy with it. It's got lots of great features and gives good directions. The traffic feature works well. Gas prices are easy to access. All of my complaints are minor -- I would call them more suggestions than complaints. Locks onto signal quickly. I am happy that I ordered this item. |
